A butterfly landed on my desk.....

Having been launched at Basel earlier this year, this is the first time the Papillon Chronograph is being seen outside of the Basel fairs.

This is the most significant Daniel Roth of late because it plugs an important hole in the collection. It can be the flagship chronograph for the brand, like the Datograph is for Lange and the Royal Oak Offshore for Audemars Piguet; a flagship chronograph is important because chronographs are inordinately popular and they tend to be more accessible than the higher level complications. Existing Daniel Roth chronograph models, while finely made and handsome, were just not distinctive or unique enough. The Papillon Chronograph changes all that. Already initial reaction from press, collectors and retailers are all very favourable. This watch will be an important model and highly successful, just like the Gefica for Gerald Genta in 2007.
