As discussed in an earlier thread , Daniel Roth offers a dual timezone watch in its Masters range. This model, the Metropolitan, is an evolution of the now discontinued Vantage model. Unlike most dual time watches, the Metropolitan offers a Daylight Savings Time (DST) function, amongst others. Modem burner - The 8-Days tourbillon in platinum

The new watches unveiled at Baselworld have gotten everyone's attention. There are watches already in the collection that are equally deserving of attention, like this 8-days tourbillon in platinum, which just arrived at an authorised dealer yesterday. This is the first time I handled this particular model in platinum, previously I had only seen it in rose gold and white gold. The heft and sheen of the platinum is incredible, and the perfectly finished tourbillon and its three-pronged seconds h...

The perfect watch for everyday wear?

Daniel Roth is known for its complications - grande sonneries, tourbillons, perpetual calendars and more. Another trademark DR watch is a Papillon with its unconventional time display. At the other end of the spectrum lie the simple wristwatches, exemplified by the Athys series. One is because of the earth's e...

A look at the Papillon in platinum

The Daniel Roth Papillon is available in rose or white gold, and platinum. Recently I had the chance to photograph a specimen in platinum; it was a truly solid chunk of platinum. Here it is in comparison to a Metropolitan dual-time in white gold. Both use the same ellipsocurvex case, which has a curved caseback. I do like the heft of the platinum Papillon and the deep metallic blue of the dial is very eye-catching. But I still prefer the richer colours of the rose gold ...

Daniel Roth Lumiere Wallpaper

All the photos of the Lumiere are 1024 pixels in length, ideal for wallpaper. Click on the images for the full sized photo. Click to view full size image When I first laid eyes on the Lumière I was stunned, it is without a doubt the most beautiful tourbillon launched in 2007. Truly beautiful watches are tough to find these days, this is the era of the ultra-complicated or ultra-large watch; usually beauty and simplicity go hand in hand. Conversations with oth...
